1) The Square Orange
A firm favourite of ours in Keswick, The Square Orange is known for its tapas-style dishes and freshly made pizzas, served in cosy yet cool surroundings with a lively, welcoming atmosphere. It’s a great spot for relaxed sharing plates or an informal evening meal after a day in the fells.
The Square Orange doesn’t take reservations and you’ll find it conveniently located on St John Street, just a short walk from Goodwin House.

2) Fell Pack Restaurant
For something a little different, Fellpack offers eclectic modern European food with a creative twist, all served in a cool, contemporary setting. The menu is particularly well suited to non-meat eaters and those with special dietary requirements with thoughtfully prepared dishes that don’t feel like an afterthought.
Consistently praised for its excellent food and great value, Fellpack is a popular choice with both locals and visitors. You’ll find it on Lake Road, within easy walking distance of Goodwin House ideal for a relaxed but memorable evening out in Keswick.

3) The Pheasant Inn
An award winning Keswick pub, The Pheasant Inn is, in our view, one of the best places in town for high-quality pub food. The menu consistently delivers well-cooked, comforting dishes using good ingredients, making it a favourite with both locals and visitors throughout the year.
Getting there is part of the pleasure. Located on Crosthwaite Road it’s around a 15–20 minute walk from Goodwin House taking you through Fitz Park alongside the River Greta. A lovely, gentle stroll, especially in the early evening.
The Pheasant is extremely popular year round, so we strongly recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment particularly at weekends and during peak seasons.

4) The Round
If you’re in the mood for a great burger, The Round delivers quality burgers done really well, in a space that’s cool, modern, and impressively efficient. It’s the sister restaurant to Fellpack, so you can expect the same thoughtful approach to food and flavour.
The menu includes excellent options for non-meat eaters making it a reliable choice for mixed groups. Located on Main Street by Moot Hall, it’s right in the centre of Keswick and easy to combine with a wander through town.

5) Barua Indian Street Food
For something a little different, Barua Indian Street Food offers Indian-inspired small plates designed for sharing, think tapas, but with bold Indian flavours. It’s a relaxed and sociable way to eat, perfect for trying a variety of dishes in one sitting.
Barua is especially popular with non-meat eaters with one of the best selections of vegetarian and vegan food in Keswick. The menu is creative, full of flavour, and ideal for guests looking for plant based options that don’t compromise on taste.

6) The Dog & Gun
A much-loved Keswick pub, The Dog & Gun is known for its lively atmosphere, friendly crowd, and welcoming attitude to dogs, it’s often full of both muddy paws and cheerful conversation. Part of the Greene King chain it offers dependable pub food in relaxed surroundings.
The goulash is a long-time favourite and regularly draws people in, but you’ll also find a good selection of traditional pub dishes if you’re after something familiar and comforting. It’s a great place to drop into after a day on the fells.

7) The Pocket Cafe Bar
The Pocket is a relaxed and welcoming spot known for its excellent homemade pizzas, small plates, and a really good selection of drinks encompassing real ales and local & European beers. It’s a great option if you’re after something informal with a lively atmosphere.
What really sets The Pocket apart is its live music events. On Friday and Monday nights, there’s live music from around 8.30–9.00pm, creating a buzzing, friendly feel. Wednesday is quiz night, which is always popular with locals and visitors alike.
Located on Lake Road, it’s an easy walk from the centre of Keswick and from Goodwin House ideal for a relaxed night out without needing transport. You will find The Pocket opposite Fell Pack and Barua Indian Street Food.

8) The Fox Tap & Brewery Shop
The Fox Tap is Keswick’s very own craft brewery (Keswick Brewing Company), offering a great selection of cask and keg beers, wines, local spirits and soft drinks. It’s a relaxed and friendly place to enjoy a drink whether you’re a real ale enthusiast or simply curious to try something brewed locally.
The brewery also runs guided tours on selected days giving a fascinating insight into the brewing process, booking is required for these. Opening times: Tuesday to Saturday, 2pm–7pm.

9) Lake District Wine.
Lake District Wine is an independent wine shop & bar tucked away in Packhorse Court, offering a fabulous selection of local and international wines. You can enjoy a glass on site in a relaxed setting or pick up a bottle to take away and enjoy back at Goodwin House.
They also offer small snacks, making it an ideal stop for a pre-dinner drink or a laid back afternoon visit.
A real gem for wine lovers looking for something a little different from the usual pub scene.

Craft Beer Keswick was created by a group of friends with a genuine passion for great craft beer, and it shows. Part bottle shop, part relaxed drinking venue, it’s the perfect place to explore carefully curated craft beers from local, national, and international breweries.
If you enjoy discovering new beers or already love the craft scene, this is a must-visit. Friendly, informal, and unpretentious, it’s a great spot to stop for a drink or to pick up something special to enjoy later.
