Fabulous Food at Goodwin House - Sumptious Breakfasts, Packed Lunches & Evening Meals

Our homemade breakfasts are cooked fresh using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients wherever this is possible. Our Cumberland sausage and dry cured bacon come from Harrisons family butchers in Cockermouth (home of the Cumberland sausage) and our eggs come from Scales Farm, Embleton where the chickens roam free.

We also offer a good selection for guests preferring a meat free or vegan breakfast and can provide alternatives to our standard menu to support guests with special dietary requirements, food intolerances or allergies, but please do let us know in advance so we can deliver the best menu for your personal needs.

Breakfast Service:

Breakfast is served at time slots between 08.00 with the last sitting at 08.50. If you need an earlier start just let us know the night before and we will always aim to accommodate where possible.

We request that our guests complete the breakfast order form by 8pm the night before so we can tailor make your breakfast and ensure efficient service to you in the morning.

To Start

A pot of Pennington’s Lakeland Blend loose leaf tea or a freshly brewed cafetière of coffee. Decaffeinated tea or coffee is available as well as a selection of herbal teas and infusions.

Homemade ‘Goodwin’ granola, cereals, porridge, yogurt, fresh fruit & fruit juice.

White or wholemeal toast with a selection of toast toppers including local jams, honey and marmalade from the team at ‘Wild and Fruitful’ on the Lingholm Estate.

Then choose from one of the following

Evening Meals

Our evening meals offer great value for money, quality and choice at just £11.50

We serve dinners at 7pm on three nights of the week, normally Monday, Wednesday and Saturday though this may be subject to change.

Guests are invited to bring their own drinks including wine or beer and use our guest fridge in the dining room to chill them.

Our current menu includes; Shepherds Pie, Chicken, Ham and Leek Pie, Lasagna al Forno,, Fish Pie and Vegetable Tagine

Packed Lunches

Planning a day out on the fells, water or woods and need a lunch to go? Our packed lunches are great value at £5.50 and are ready for guests to pick up at breakfast.

They include a choice of filled rolls, crisps, piece of fruit and cake or biscuit. Plus we will fill water bottles or hot drinks flasks at no extra charge.

Guest can choose from; ham salad, mature cheddar and local chutney, tuna and red onion mayonaise, or hummus, falafel and carrot all with optional salad.

We can offer a gluten free packed lunch and we will do our best to cater for other special diets.
